Bespoke radiator covers at North Manchester General Hospital
Bespoke radiator covers · Hospital case study
At North Manchester General Hospital, a glazed corridor wall called for a different approach to radiator covers. Coverad developed bespoke radiator covers using our Eazi-Access range in 2mm steel, with pre-made back panels for the installation. We carried out the survey, design, manufacture, supply and installation for this high-traffic corridor area.

Radiator covers for a glazed hospital corridor
The setting was a busy corridor at North Manchester General Hospital, with radiators positioned along a glass wall. The photographs show tall glazing, substantial frames and a series of separate radiator positions. Those surroundings formed an important part of the casing design.
There was more to consider than the front of each cover. The rear arrangement needed to be designed for this particular location too. Coverad’s brief therefore included pre-made back panels as part of a bespoke installation, rather than treating the rear detail as something to resolve on site.
The completed white casings sit between the glazing frames, following the layout of the corridor. Slotted fronts and the access-panel details are visible in the close-up photographs.
Bespoke radiator covers with Eazi-Access and back panels
We used the Eazi-Access range as the starting point and made the casings from 2mm steel. The material choice was part of the specification for this high-traffic area, while the Eazi-Access arrangement retained a practical route to the radiator for cleaning and maintenance.
The pre-made back panels were the key bespoke detail. By including them in the design and manufacture, the cover and its rear arrangement could be considered together around the glazed wall. This is why a site survey matters on an unusual installation: the space behind the radiator can shape the solution just as much as the radiator itself.
For the maintenance team, access remains an important part of the brief. A cover needs to fit the room, but it also needs to work with the people who look after the heating equipment. Our Eazi-Access radiator cover page explains the range in more detail.

Survey, design, manufacture, supply and installation
Coverad handled the project from the initial survey through to installation. The survey established the site arrangement; the design brought the 2mm steel casings and pre-made back panels together for manufacture. We then supplied and installed the finished covers at the hospital.
Having that full scope within the project kept the site detail central to the work. The result shown in the photographs is a row of bespoke Eazi-Access casings fitted along the glazed corridor, with each cover positioned around the existing frames.
